Open Days 2011: Demographic change in the NSPA
The NSPA seminar and reception on 11th of October 2011, attracted up to 130 registered participants from the NSPA regions. The NSPA seminar focused on demographic change from a young perspective and three young politicians from the three countries of the NSPA gave their view on the topic.

Ms. Anna Ljunggren, aged 27, Member of Parliament, Norway, underlined rich cultural life, good childcare but most of all jobs, as things that can attract young couples to the NSPA- region.
-"If you don't have a job the rest is unimportant", Ms. Ljunggren said.
Mr. Olov Oskarsson, President of Assembly of European Regions (AER) Youth Regional Network, highlighted the importance of youth democracy and the integration of youth in local and regional politics when dealing with the demographic change in the NSPA region.
- "We should not ask ourselves what we are doing for young people but instead what we are doing together with young people", Mr. Oskarsson said.
Mr. Teemo Hirvonen, aged 27, Vice-Chairman of the Assembly Regional Council of Etelä-Savo emphasized the importance of spreading the good word about our regions, not necessarily as a PR-campaign but as a healthy pride of our regions.
- "We have the tools to change the future, everything starts from ourselves", Mr. Hirvonen said.
The purpose of the seminar was to discuss the matter of demographic change, a common issue for the NSPA regions, and to gather the Open Days participants from different NSPA areas to greet, meet and discuss new ideas and possibilities for future cooperation in a relaxed atmosphere.
