Elsi Katainen (RE) and Erik Bergkvist (S&D) welcomes you to participate in a virtual roundtable discussion on the Arctic together with the Northern Sparsely Populated Areas (NSPA).
On July 13 the NSPA Steering Committee adopted a position paper on the cohesion policy within the budget proposal and the EU Recovery Instrument, Next Generation EU. Among other things, NSPA welcomes the policy fundamentals of the Next Generation EU to focus on green and digital transition with the European Green Deal as the main strategy and EU Cohesion Policy as the primary investment instrument.
As a part of the European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC), NSPA together with Scotland Highlands and Islands organise a session Monday 19 October that will be showcasing initiatives in or close to the Arctic already on the move towards a climate-neutral economy. Session will also explore initiatives taken by regional actors across the territory, including regional development agencies, to help Arctic and rural businesses adjust to a circular economy.
