Welcome to the NSPA Forum and a Conference on Arctic Regional Development on 9-10 November in Rovaniemi, Finland

The Regional Council of Lapland, in cooperation with the Northern Sparsely Populated Areas (NSPA), the Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the S3 Platform, is organizing the DISCOVERING THE ARCTIC FUTURE - AS A PART OF EUROPE - CONFERENCE and the annual NSPA Forum on 9-10.11.2017 in Rovaniemi, Finland.

The back-to-back events will gather more than two hundred Europeans to discuss the future of our continent, regional development, Smart Specialisation, Arctic opportunities and, above all, interregional cooperation. Along with the NSPA Forum 2017, Lapland is hosting a Committee of the Regions ECON Committee meeting and a Smart Specialisation (S3) high-level meeting in Rovaniemi.

You are warmly welcome to discuss ways to deepen cooperation with/within the European Arctic and making better use of the EU funding instruments and initiatives to achieve our regional development goals. EU level policy developments (the EU regional policy and the EU Arctic policy) affecting the conditions of NSPA regional development will be discussed and NSPA positions developed.
